Only one or two stories stood out, imo. I'm not much into 'behind the scenes' stuff though, so I think more serious fans of Galaxy or of sf short stories through the years would appreciate this more. ( )

The companion to Worlds of If, also in my collection. In addition to a selection of the work from over the years, it also contains a full index (by author) of all the issues from October 1950 to May 1979. There is "All The Myriad Ways" by Larry Niven, and "Overdrawn at the Memory Bank" by John Varley. I really miss those days.

It should be noted that this was also published in two volumes, in a mass market paperback, and I have the second volume of that.

The plethora of authors just had to produce some real goodies, but all in all, it was disappointing collection. What makes the book worth having, though, is the complete index of Galaxy writers from 1950 throug 1978. ( )

A great collection of scifi shorts published in Galaxay magazine. I read the first half of the stories awhile ago so I can't remember much of those but of the last bunch I read I really liked "Founding Father" by Isaac Asimov, "All Myriad Ways" by Larry Niven, "The Last Flight of Doctor Ain" by James Tiptree Jr, "Cold Friend" by Harlan Ellison, "The Gift Of Garigolli" by Frederik Pohl and C.M. Kornbluth, and "Overdrawn At The Memory Bank" by John Varley. I really liked reading the stories in one book like this. I might have to pick up another short story collection like this.
