About the Author

Mario Puzo, best known as the author of The Godfather, was born on October 15, 1920 in the Hell's Kitchen area of New York City. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II, and when he returned attended New York's School for Social Research and Columbia University. He wrote pulp stories and show more edited Male magazine before publishing his first novel, The Dark Arena (1955). His works were well-received critically, but failed to generate much revenue until he published his most notable work, The Godfather, which was ultimately made into a trilogy of award-winning movies. Puzo continued writing novels, and his final work, Omerta, was finished not long before his death. He won the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay in both 1972, and 1974. Wow, so many things of [a:Mario Puzo|12605|Mario Puzo|http://photo.goodreads.com/authors/1322107703p2/12605.jpg]'s [b:The Godfather|239795|The Godfather|Mario Puzo|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1309204718s/239795.jpg|266624] make sense now.
This prequel is made to become a classic. Great way if writing. I loved reading the book.

This is good bit far fetched story.
Its Mafia meets Hollywood with a bit of Las Vegas thrown in.

Main character is Cross he is Great Nephew of the Boss of the Clericuzio family
He is looking after one of the big Casinos Xanado . He has a few schemes planned.
He also falls in love with a big Hollywood star called Athena Aquitane. This brings the Movie world to his attention and he wants to get involved in the film industry. Cross is prepared to give everything up to be with her and her severely austic daughter Bethany as he really loves her.

Cross has always felt a bit of a Black sheep in his extended family his Dad Pippi is murdered and he suspects his cousin Dante with the help of a crooked Policeman is to blame.

Cross decides to kill Dante he goes against the family code and sorts this out himself. Family find out and banish Cross, this works out in Cross's favour and the family are quite happy because Dante was getting to big for his boots.

The story of the Corleone family and their life of crime. We see the family through various stages introducing the reader to the family and how and where they fit in the story.
