Loved most of this book. Hated the ending. I hate when characters suddenly start behaving differently for plot purposes.

This book hooked me from the 1st page. I was clearly in the mood. It was however sad. Don't read this if your mood can't take it. Great character study mixed with a tragic mystery.

I love Ellroy's writing style. The story is told from an interesting point of view. There is a lot of darkness so don't read it if you are feeling down.

I really had high hopes with the reviews for this book and for this author in general. In the beginning the book was somewhat interesting, but then it just fell flat.

I was 2/3 of the way through and had no interest in reading anymore.

I have no idea what creates all of the great reviews; maybe the whole race thing? No idea.
